The end of the routine.
Laser and IPL hair reduction for face and body, booked as a planned series rather than a single hopeful session.
Where we treat
- Upper lip, chin and jawline
- Underarms
- Bikini and Brazilian
- Legs, full or lower
- Back, chest and shoulders
- Arms and forearms
How it works
Light, pigment and timing — the whole method rests on those three things.
- Targeting the follicle
- The device sends light that is absorbed by the pigment in the hair. That energy travels down the shaft to the follicle and heats it enough to disable it. Surrounding skin, which holds less pigment, is left alone. This is why coarse dark hair responds best and why very fine or grey hair responds poorly.
- Why it takes a series
- Only follicles in their active growth phase can be treated, and at any moment that is a fraction of the hair on any given area. Sessions are spaced weeks apart so a new group of follicles has entered that phase. Six to eight sessions is a common range; some areas and some people need more.
- Laser and IPL
- We use both. Laser delivers a single wavelength and is generally the choice for coarse hair and for contrast between hair and skin; IPL covers a broader spectrum and suits some areas and skin types better. Which one you get is a clinical decision made at your consultation.
What to expect
Consultation and patch test
We assess hair and skin, review medications that affect light sensitivity, and test a small area before treating a full one.
Prep
Avoid sun and self-tanner for two weeks. Do not wax, thread or pluck for four weeks — the follicle has to be there to treat. Shave the area the day before or the morning of.
Treatment
An upper lip takes minutes; legs or a back take closer to an hour. It feels like a rubber band snap with a cooling blast after each pulse.
Repeat on schedule
Sessions are spaced four to eight weeks apart depending on the area. Keeping to the schedule matters more than any single session.
Good to know
Downtime
None to speak of. Redness and slight swelling around the follicles for a few hours is normal. Skip hot tubs, saunas and hard workouts for 24 hours.
Shedding, not falling out
Treated hairs push out over one to three weeks afterwards. It looks like regrowth and is not.
Reduction, not removal
The honest word is reduction. Most people end with far less hair, finer and slower, and come back for occasional maintenance. Hormonal changes can reactivate follicles.
Individual results vary
Hair colour, thickness, skin tone and hormones all affect how many sessions you need and how much hair stays away.
Before you book
How many sessions will I need?
Six to eight is a common range, spaced four to eight weeks apart. Coarse areas may need fewer, hormonally driven facial hair often needs more, and we reassess as we go rather than selling a fixed package up front.
Does it hurt?
It feels like a quick snap with cooling right behind it. Most people tolerate it easily. Bonier and denser areas are the least comfortable.
Can I shave between sessions?
Yes — shave as often as you like. What you cannot do is wax, thread, pluck or use epilators, because those remove the follicle's target.
Does it work on blonde, red or grey hair?
Poorly. The treatment depends on pigment, so light and grey hair responds far less. We will tell you at the consultation if your hair is not a good candidate rather than take the booking.
Can I treat in the summer?
Yes, if you can keep the area out of the sun and off the tanning bed before and after. Tanned skin raises the risk of a burn or a pigment change, so we may reschedule a session if you have been in the sun.
