Thinning hair, taken seriously.
Non-surgical, consultation-led care for thinning and shedding — for women and men. The first step is finding out what is actually happening on your scalp.
What it addresses
- A widening part or a thinning crown
- A receding or softening hairline
- Increased shedding in the shower or on the pillow
- Hair that has lost density and body
- Thinning that followed a stressful period, illness or a change in health
- Scalp that feels irritated, tight or flaky
The approach
Hair loss has many causes and no single answer. We evaluate first, then build a plan in three parts.
- Scalp evaluation
- We examine the scalp and hair closely, take a full history — family pattern, timeline, stress, illness, medications, diet — and, where it is relevant, arrange lab work. Hair is often a symptom of something else, and treating the scalp without knowing the cause wastes your time and money.
- In-office treatment
- Where you are a candidate, treatment is delivered in a series of short in-office appointments spaced weeks apart, with progress reviewed as you go. What is appropriate for you is determined at your evaluation, because the right answer differs by cause, by pattern and by how long it has been going on.
- Home protocol
- A routine you carry out between visits: how you wash and handle your hair, scalp care, and anything else indicated by the evaluation. Consistency at home does a real share of the work, and the in-office part is far less effective without it.
What to expect
Consultation
About an hour. Scalp examination, history, photographs for comparison, and an honest read on what is realistic.
Candidacy
Not everyone is a candidate, and the earlier in the process you come, the more there is to work with. If we do not think treatment will help you, we will tell you and say why.
Course of treatment
In-office appointments on a set schedule, with the home protocol running alongside.
Review
Hair moves slowly. We re-photograph and reassess at set intervals rather than asking you to judge it in the mirror.
Good to know
Timelines are long
Hair grows in cycles measured in months. Any honest assessment of progress comes at three to six months, not three to six weeks.
Results vary
Cause, pattern, duration and how consistently you follow the plan all change the outcome. A consultation determines candidacy. We do not promise regrowth.
Shedding first is common
Some people shed more early in a course. It is expected and we will tell you before it happens rather than after.
Maintenance matters
Whatever improves typically needs continued care to hold. We build that into the plan from the start.
Before you book
Am I a candidate?
That is what the evaluation determines. Cause, pattern and how long the thinning has been going on all matter. Early is better than late, and we would rather see you when you first notice it.
Is this surgery?
No. Everything we offer here is non-surgical and done in the office. If your situation calls for a surgical option, we will say so and point you in the right direction.
How long before I know if it is working?
Three to six months for a meaningful read. We take photographs at the first visit specifically so the comparison is not a memory.
Does it work for women?
Women make up a large share of the thinning-hair consultations we do. The pattern is often different from male thinning, which is exactly why the evaluation comes first.
What if hair loss is a symptom of something else?
That is a real possibility and one of the reasons we take a full history and may order labs. If something medical is driving it, treating the scalp alone will not solve the problem.
